CustomVue offers vision correction for each individual by designing a treatment for the unique characteristics of an individual's eyes. Some of the equipment and methods we use to provide Custom LASIK is explained below:
WaveScan Wavefront
Technology originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes to reduce distortions when viewing distant objects in space has now been applied to LASIK, measuring imperfections in the eye. This technology identifies and measures imperfections in your eyes 20 times more precisely than standard methods. WaveScan software the translates the information into a set of custom treatment instructions which are then transferred to the excimer laser:
VISX STAR S4 Excimer Laser
Integrating data collected by the WaveScan WaveFront System, the STAR S4 utilizes these exclusive VISX technologies to deliver customized treatment:
Variable Spot Scanning: Variable beam sizes from as small as 0.65 mm up to 6.5 mm, scanned over the treatment area, conserve tissue and optimize treatment times - ActiveTrak 3-D Active Eye Tracking and Centering: Captures any movement of the eye during treatment and automatically sets the treatment center to right place.
Clinical Study Results
The U.S. FDA has approved the VISX CustomVue procedure for correcting nearsightedness and astigmatism. FDA clinical study results one year after the VISX CustomVue procedure are as follows:
- 100% could pass a driving test without glasses or contact lenses
- 98% could see 20/20 or better without glasses or contact lenses
- 70% could see better than 20/20 without glasses or contact lenses
- 4 times as many participants were very satisfied with their night vision after CustomVue, when compared to their night vision with their glasses or contact lenses.
