Flex Spending Accounts (FSA)
Don't Tax Your Vision!
Individuals can now use tax-free Flex Spending Accounts to get reimbursed for eligible medical expenses. Around 90% of United States employees work for companies who offer a Flexible Spending Account, but only about 18% of that workforce takes advantage of this program.
A Flexible Spending Account or (FSA), (also called flex plan, reimbursement account, Cafeteria Plan, Flex 125, Tax Saving Plan, Medical Spending Account), is an employer-sponsored benefit that allows employees to pay for eligible medical expenses on a pre-tax.
Flexible Spending Accounts save you money by reducing your taxes. The contributions you make to a Flexible Spending Account are deducted from your paycheck before tax. This decreases your taxable income and increases your spendable income, thereby bringing down the cost of your chosen procedure.
It's important the you use the amount you have elected for your FSA plan each year, because if it is more than your actual expenses, you will have to forfeit the overage of funds you set aside. The excess amounts cannot be carried over to the following year nor can your employer return any money remaining in your FSA to you. Ask your human resource director about open enrollment and the details on Flex Spending Accounts.
Tax Benefits:
Moreover, it is possible that the cost of LASIK may be tax deductible, according to the Internal Revenue Service. The current law states that taxpayers with medical expenses that total more than 7.5% of their annual incomes can deduct those costs if they itemize, according to the Dow Jones Newswire. Because the procedure "meaningfully promotes the proper function of the body," LASIK qualifies as medical expense that can be deducted, the IRS said.
The IRS also said any out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs and insulin qualify as deductible medical expenses. The IRS discussed the tax treatment of medical expenses in revenue rulings 2003-57 and 2003-58. They will be published in the Internal Revenue Service bulletin dated June 2. The rulings and the bulletin can be found on the IRS Web site.
Out of Pocket:
For non-covered services, Cutarelli Vision accepts cash, cashier check or money order, VISA, and MasterCard. We also provide financing through Care Credit , an independent creditor offering a flexible payment program specifically designed for health care expenses.
Most laser vision correction procedures have a single fee that includes all post-operative visits during the routine follow-up period. Payment arrangements must be made at least seven days prior to the procedure.

We also accept cash, personal checks, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.
